Kohima, Feb. 6: With an aim to provide quality education early, St. Luke Church of Phezoucha Yasogei, at the New Secretariat area in Kohima town, has established a primary school for children for the classes A to one.
The newly-constructed school building is just below the road near the Nagalan d Public Service Commission. It was formally dedicated by Parish Priest of Christ King Parish, Rev. Fr. Dr. Peter Salew, SDB and inaugurated by Catholic Association of Nagaland’s (CAN) treasurer, Mezhü-o Marcus Solo here today.
Around 60 students have already enrolled for the academic session.
In his inaugural address, Solo expressed hope that the school will grow bigger in the years although it would be providing education at the primary level. He hoped that it would come to provide quality education at high school and higher secondary levels.
Also, he called upon the teachers, students and parents of the school to equally share the responsibility of shaping the children to be better citizens. The teachers were encouraged to be sincere and dedicated in imparting quality education. Likewise, he urged parents to play their role of guide for their children.
Solo appealed to the students not to ‘wait for the last hour of exam to study’ but be hardworking from the beginning of the academic session.
The school is housed on land donated by Roko Paul. It will be administered by the Catholic Union of St. Luke Church, informed Union President Mengukhrietuo Marcus Dzüvichü while delivering the welcome address.
