Dimapur, Aug. 25 (EMN): The Nagaland unit of the Janta Dal (united) urges the government to urgently take steps to set up the Nagaland State Staff Selection Board (NSSSB). The party requests the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the matter.
The party’s media and publicity cell issued a press release to the media on Saturday.
The JDU iterated its stand on the establishment of the NSSSB, which was one of the ‘core issues that was incorporated in the party’s manifesto to the run up for the general election in 2018,’ the press release stated.

The press release read: ‘The decades old back- door appointment smeared by nepotism and favouritism has been ailing (sic) the very system of recruitment and appointment in the governmental set up in Nagaland state. The best option at this moment is to establish the NSSSB so as to ensure that justice reigns in all matters of government appointments by giving equal opportunity to one and all.’

The JDU urged the PDA government to urgently take initiatives to set up the NSSSB “which is the unanimous desire of the people of Nagaland seen from the demands being put up by various social organisations including the Naga Students’ Federation.”

The “true essence of good governance is proactivity (sic) and not reactivity on the cry of its citizens” that are expressed through protests, agitations or ultimatums, the JDU explained.

“In this regard, the JDU also request the PDA government to convene an all-party meeting to discuss on this matter,” the party stated.
