The popular nine-part Korean survival series, which debuted in September, has knocked off the previous top-spot holder Bridgerton (82 million).
Following its unprecedented success, the series got its official merchandise including a hoodie and various t-shirts.
Despite the show’s popularity, writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk isn’t sure about another season of Squid Game.
“I don’t have well-developed plans for Squid Game 2,” Hwang told Variety. “It is quite tiring just thinking about it. But if I were to do it, I would certainly not do it alone. I’d consider using a writers’ room and would want multiple experienced directors.”
