Kohima, April 29 (EMN): A month-long skill development training for electricians, pump operators and motor mechanics, organised and sponsored by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and conducted by Zynorique Initiatives Society, concluded in Kohima on April 28.

An update from Zynorique Initiatives Society informed that the candidates, selected from all the districts, were trained in two batches with the methodology mainly focused on hands-on practical training.

The training was a component under the Jal Jeevan Mission 2021-2022 with an objective of achieving functional household tap connection (FHTC) goals to every household.

Speaking at the valedictory function, the chief engineer of PHED), T Sangtam, has congratulated the trainees for completing the programme and encouraged them to utilise the knowledge gained for generating income. He stated that the programme was a part of Jal Jeevan Mission, where a component of the fund was utilised for capacity building and skill development of the region so that the trained workforce could be absorbed under the same for meeting the FHTC goals.

Also speaking on the occasion, the chairman of Zynorique Initiatives Society, Richard Belho, reminded the trained candidates that it was a common goal of both the governments of India and Nagaland to train and skill the youth so that they could be employed or find self-employment.

He encouraged the youth to look beyond government jobs and to understand that it is not possible for the government to absorb everyone into government service.

It was followed with sharing by the trainees, who have expressed happiness for the knowledge gained from the training programme.
