Skill development course on bamboo crafts underway in Dimapur
Dimapur, Jan. 28 (EMN): A two-month green skill development programme (GSDP) on ‘’Value addition and marketing (plant origin): Bamboo crafts,” organised by ENVIS Hub Nagaland began on January 28 in the office of Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), Dimapur, with its member secretary and ENVIS coordinator, K Hukato Chishi, as guest of honour.
In his speech, Hukato stressed on the importance of self-sustenance and also to utilise the course offered by the department. While highlighting the different utilities of bamboo, he encouraged the participants to use bamboo products and replace plastic products in their daily lives.
An update from ENVIS Hub Nagaland informed that resource materials like bags, t-shirt, caps, face masks, notepads, hand sanitiser etc were handed over to the trainees by the guest of honour.
It stated that fifteen trainees would undergo intensive training on bamboo crafts. They would be given both theory and practical classes and hands-on training on bamboo crafts.
A power point presentation on “Introduction to GSDP” was made by Khriehunuo Rutsa, information officer of ENVIS Hub Nagaland. In her presentation, she highlighted various GSDP courses organised by ENVIS Hub Nagaland.
It mentioned that ENVIS Hub Nagaland had successfully conducted various GSDP certificate course on pollution monitors (air and water), waste management, bamboo crafts, bamboo propagation and management and wild beekeeping and processing.
The inaugural programme was attended by all the trainees and officials and staff of Nagaland Pollution Control Board.
