Seven-day NSS camp begins in Rusoma village

Dimapur, May 2 (EMN): The seven-day special camp of the NSS of Don Bosco College in Kohima started at “Rusoma NSS adopted village” on May 2 in the village’s Panchayat Hall.
A press release from the institution informed that the Don Bosco College is visiting the “NSS adopted village” for the second consecutive year. C Theyo, the state NSS officer, attended the occasion as the chief guest of the event. He unfurled the NSS flag of the Don Bosco College and declared the camp open.
The press release stated that he spoke on the theme “Swachh Bharat” and elaborated on the importance and objectives of the Swachh Bharat campaign initiated by the central government.
“He encouraged the students of St. Stephen school, Rusoma who also presented a song during the inaugural ceremony to study hard with dedication and sincerity as to render services to the community at large by becoming NSS volunteers. Further he encouraged the NSS volunteers to learn the dignity of labour and emphasized that ‘when you do something for people wholeheartedly you receive unseen blessing and you will always be remembered in the hearts of the people,’ the press release stated.
He invited the NSS volunteers from Don Bosco College to participate in the NSS special festival to be held in Manipur and Nagaland.
A blood donation camp was organized to mark the inaugural function. It was conducted in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Naga Hospital. Dr. V. Khamu, department of Pathology and her team of staffers assisted at the blood donation program.
From the NSS unit of Don Bosco College, the press release stated, 20 volunteers including the principal of the college donated blood. The personnel of the 93rd BN of the BSF at Chedema provided facilities for the smooth conduct of the blood donation, the organisers informed.
During the event, the NSS volunteers will engage in various activities such as cleaning wells and monuments; engage in the Clean Election campaign; help at widow’s garden; plant 1, 000 saplings; visit the “aged parents and kids”, the press release added.
