Senior citizen dies in another Dimapur road accident

Dimapur, Aug. 20 (EMN): A 68-year-old man was killed in another hit-and-run case in Dimapur on Saturday morning, said the police.

The deceased, identified as Marnüken from Chuchuyimlang village, was serving as a deacon at Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA).

Commissioner of Police Dimapur (CP), Rothihu Tetseo told Eastern Mirror that the victim had gone for a walk along Golaghat road at around 5:30 am when a truck, speeding towards New Field check gate, hit him and drove away.

Two Assam Rifles personnel, who were on duty, hailed an auto-rickshaw and chased the truck after witnessing the tragic incident. The driver was later apprehended near Amar mill and was handed over to the police, Tetseo informed.

The victim was pronounced dead when the Dimapur police personnel took him to hospital. The Traffic police has taken over the case, the CP informed.
