Dimapur, Feb. 16 (EMN): In a major setback for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state, eleven senior officials have tendered their resignation with immediate effect alleging ‘authoritarian attitude’ of the state party president Temjen Imna Along and the organisation secretary, Ananta Narayan Mishra.

“The authoritarian attitude of Shri. Imna Along, the state BJP president, and Ananta Narayan Mishra, organisation secretary, have left the BJP in the state in total disarray ignoring and sidelining all the senior party cadres who have struggled in building up the party from scrap to power,” the joint statement read.

The beleaguered members also stated that all their efforts have gone in vain as even the central leadership have failed to listen to the voice of the most dedicated and committed party workers.

In a veil attack on the state’s party president, the members also claimed that many senior party leaders were not happy but chose to remain mute because the central leaders are shielding and supporting him who is accused of corruption and cheating with cases pending in the court.

The members felt that it would be morally wrong to remain in the party under such circumstances and added that they have no moral standing to go to the people for votes. The members further stated that many would follow suit in the days to come if Along Imna and Ananta continue to lead the party.

The resigned members included for minister and former chairman of political affairs committee TA Ngullie, for vice president of state minority cell Tutiur Rehman Tapadar, former president of state BJP mahila Sanuo Ngullie, former vice president of state BJP mahila Akhrieno Jamir, former secretaries of state BJP mahila namely Phyobeni Ezung, Rani Tapadar, Nemla Chang, Bokali Kiho, Vungthunglo Ngullie, Vono Ngullie and Setsala Phom.
