The ‘Save Environment Network (SEN),’ with an objective to create environmental awareness to the people of Nagaland released its first newsletter- a bi-monthly publication at its new office located at Hotel Theja Fort building, Burma Camp with Parliamentary Secretary of Election, Irrigation & Flood Control Vikheho Y Swu as chief guest. Calling Nagaland not as ‘the land of festivals’ but as the land of organizations, Swu advised the SEN to work hard and come out above all the failing in bringing out their proposed objective for the betterment of the society.
Vikheho Y Swu affirmed that unless credible social organizations come up in our society, the society would not develop but grow from bad to worse. ‘Despite so many social organizations and NGOs, our society is getting worse’, said Swu.
He said Nagas are too casual in approach with no planning and do not like to live in a system which is one of the biggest problems faced in the society.
In order to substantiate the present need of the society, Vikheho Y Swu encouraged SEN to develop a strong work culture and devotion towards the organization’s aims and objectives by becoming an agent towards development.
Keeping in view the urgent need to inculcate the understanding and concern on environmental issues faced in the society, SEN was formed in the beginning of 2014 comprising around 15 members with a common dream for the society.
SEN also plans to organize seminars and discussions in schools, colleges, churches, villages, towns, etc.
Managing Director SEN, Semto stated that SEN is committed to join and coordinate with the forest and environment department, Nagaland Pollution Board, Dimapur Municipal Council and various environmental NGOs of Nagaland.
SEN with its motto ‘For a healthier environment’ also plans to propagate environmental education through the bi-monthly publication of newsletter, which will highlight various reports on environmental issues.
The newsletter aims at creating environmental awareness to the communities in the field of pollution, forest wildlife, land and water use. The first edition of SEN highlights and flashes out the unauthorized dumping of waste materials on the roads, drainages, hotels and restaurants.
