Screening of short film ‘Jarem’ held in Dimapur

A short film titled ‘Jarem’ directed by Bendang Walling under OffOn Productions was screened at the Europa Inn in Dimapur on Sep. 21.

The film has been adapted from a book by Sentilong Ozukum called ‘Sincerely Yours’ and the screening saw scores of people attending it.

Moa Walling, chairman and Managing director of MW Enterprise was the chief guest. Admitting that even though he did not have much knowledge on how a movie is made, he said that the outcome shows the soul of the director of the movie.

“Though we might not make known of the all the things happening in Nagaland, this is the right time towards reaching the advanced world,” he said adding that films are the right medium to let others know of the State.

The director, Bendang Walling is an alumnus of National School of Drama, New Delhi and has written, produced and directed numerous plays and dramas over the past two decades. As the founder of Hills theatre, he has directed a total of 12 theatre plays which was performed in various festivals across the country. He was also selected as a Film Fellow by the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) 2016 for his short film ‘Blissful’ which he directed under the aegis of OffOn Productions.

OffOn Productions Pvt Ltd commonly referred as OffOn films is a motion picture production company under the aegis of Hills Theatre based in Dimapur. It aims to develop Naga cinematographic language through which the world can interpret the rich Naga culture and identity. Some of the short films produced by the company includes Blissful (2016), Walakro (2017), Dear Collector (2017) and White and Blue (2017). The company plans to produce full length feature films in the coming years.
