Sao Chang College conducts seminar, webinar on e-waste management
Dimapur, July 12 (EMN): Sao Chang College in Tuensang organised an online inter-departmental seminar on July 9.
An update on Monday informed that Vidila Jing, assistant professor, Department of Zoology presented a paper on “Synthetic Biology: Major breakthroughs and a glimpse to its dark side”. It said that Yanglikhumla Sangtam, assistant professor, department of Education, presented a paper on “The Significance of Sangtam Mongmong festival.”
The seminar was chaired by Shilumongla T Sangtam, assistant professor, department of Economics and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. S Arenla, assistant professor, department of Botany.
Meanwhile, it said that the rapporteurs for the seminar were Rejuba Pongen, assistant professor, department of Zoology and Mudang Khiamniungan , assistant professor, department of Education.
Meanwhile, Rusa committee of Sao Chang College conducted a one-day webinar on e-waste management on Monday, to create awareness on how to sustainably handle electronic waste.
It said that the main speakers of the programme were Bendangwala Walling and Sowete-u Letro, co-founders of e-circle, an electronic waste collection centre in Dimapur. The webinar deliberated on the various areas of e-waste management in the credibility of data, lack of awareness and compliance, it said.
“The speaker discussed the impact of e-waste on the environment and deliberated on the latest development in the e-waste management in the country and the importance of reiterating the changes at the policy level which needs to be incorporated to manage e-waste efficiently and sustainably,” it read.
The programme was chaired by Yanglikumla Sangtam, assistant professor, department of Education.
