Sanis Lakhuti to have all weather roads
Mhathung Yanthan along with department officials and the contractor at the launch of the all weather roads at Sanis village community hall on September 29.

Dimapur, Sep. 30 (EMN): To change the dynamics of the socio-economic sphere of his assembly constituency, advisor for Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan launched the up-gradation of the existing Sanis to Lakhuti road in Wokha district to an all weather roads on September 29 at Sanis village community hall.

Yanthan, while thanking the state government for inclusion of this particular road under PMGSY-II (2019-20), stated that it is a fulfilment of a long cherished dream of the public. He stated that the government of India has envisioned to set high standards and uniformed technical management at state-level in order to ensure sustainable rural roads network, a DIPR report stated on Wednesday.

He was optimistic that the project becomes a reality to give a better quality of life to the younger generation so that they can actively take part to change the socio-economy sphere of the area.

Lamenting on the lack of developmental activities in his constituency, he suggested proper planning to bridge the gap and bring about changes during his tenure. To address the problem, Yanthan stated that the state government has roped in experts from the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi, to assist in the planning process on better infrastructures on healthcare system, high standard of education, accessibility to clean water, good housing and food and improvement of roads connectivity etc. for quality of life.

Yanthan urged the contractors to give their best effort to transform the road into one of the best roads in the state. He further appealed to the public of the area to provide all logistic support to the contractors for successful completion of the project.

Delivering a brief report on the project, the executive engineer (R&B) Baghty, Mhathung Kikon stated that the up-gradation of road from Sanis to Lakhuti would cover four villages namely Sanis, Yonchucho, Sunglup and Lakhuti measuring a length of 18 km at a total cost of INR 1542.88 lakhs.

Also speaking on the technical aspect for execution of the project, the contractor Hachio Patton stated that PMGSY is a people’s oriented and risk oriented scheme where the contractor has to maintain the road for five years. He has assured to construct the road as per the specification mentioned in the detailed project report (DPR) to give the best result. He also urged the public of the concerned area to render all the required assistance.

Meanwhile, the four village councils have assured to render all logistic support and also urged the contractor to construct the road as per the DPR.
