Sainik School Punglwa conducts cross country competition

Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): The inter-house cross-country competition of Sainik School Punglwa, was conducted on Sat. Oct 27. The event was flagged off by the chief guest, Lt Col Kiran Meitei, the officiating principal of the school. Cross country run is an annual mega event that tests an individual’s mental and physical robustness. It also offers an ideal opportunity for an individual to develop a high degree of perseverance, endurance and determination which are indispensible for officer like qualities (OLQ) in the cadets.

During the event, cadets of different houses were categorised in three groups. Group A comprising of class VI and VII, Group B comprising of class VIII and IX and, Group C comprising of class X and XI. The competition was run for a distance of three km, five km and seven km as per the categories.

In Group A category, Cdt Sukmeshwor Kumar secured first position clocking in at 12:39 seconds whereas in Group B Cdt Ongkham Anch stood first completing his run in 19:53 seconds. In Group C Cdt Tamar Mara completed his run in 27:39 seconds and secured the first position.

Patkai house emerged as the overall winner of the competition followed by Melak house and Japfu house in the second and third positions respectively. The chief guest presented the trophy and medals to all the winners. Speaking at the post presentation ceremony, the chief guest complimented all the winners and participants and stated that cross country run is one of the exciting and taxing events which require constant practice. He encouraged the cadets to strive hard for the best in future.
