IMPHAL,May 13 (EMN): Saikot Sub-Division Demand Committee has appealed to Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh to immediately fulfil the requirements for a functional Saikot Sub-Division SDO Office.

“We met Chief Minister Biren Singh on April, in Imphal, and submitted a petition regarding the need for immediate posting of the required officials. The people are still waiting for a government order,” Saikot Sub-Division Demand Committee Information Secretary Lalramtawn Hmar said in a press statement.

The committee said that the Saikot SDO Office is yet to have revenue department staff. “We want the staff to be posted by on or before May 18 so that the people can immediately get public services like land records transfer,” the committee added while keeping an option for an agitation, “if necessary.”

“While the people are all for development, it is only right for the government to be committed to provide basic administrative facilities. As such, the Saikot Sub-Division Demand Committee is also appealing to the general public to be pursue this issue and backup any agitation (if necessary) to its logical conclusion,” the SSDC said.

In another development, Pherzawl District Development Committee(PDDC) also expressed their desire to host a reception at the newly created Pherzawl district headquarters at the earliest after Manipur chief minister N Biren’s “commitment towards development for all parts of Manipur – be it in Kangpokpi and other hill districts.”

“We want to inform the Chief Minister that we are committed to development and he has a partner in PDDC and the people of the district,” says Public Relations of PDDC in a press release. “However, we do have one special request: The Honourable Chief Minister N Biren Singh should travel by road to Pherzawl District headquarters and he will understand why we the people of Pherzawl District have been crying for development all these years.”

Stating that they are also aware of the special packages given to Kangpokpi district and other districts created at the same time as Pherzawl district, it said, we appeal to the Chief Minister to grant the same facilities for all districts, including Pherzawl District – which said to be the least developed district in Manipur. There are 16 districts in the state.
