Rüzhükhrie fills the last spot for Pools final

Kohima, July 8 (EMN): Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School (HSS) overpowered Mt. Hermon HSS 2-0 in the last quarterfinal match at Kohima local ground on Saturday at the ongoing 1st Kohima District Inter-School Football tournament jointly organised by Royal Club Kohima and School Education department. With the win, Rüzhükhrie Govt HSS will now take on Ministers’ Hill Baptist HSS in Pool-B final next Tuesday.

In an exciting encounter, Rüzhükhrie Govt HSS started off the game with better ball possession and counter attacks and Mt Hermon defenders failed to deal with the long balls.
Keviyabei-u took the opportunity and broke the deadlock for Rüzhükhrie in the 22nd minute after his teammate latched a through ball into Keviyabei-u’s path where he collected and converted the goal. Rüzhükhrie’s breakthrough was a tribute to scrappy defense from Mt Hermon side.
Mt Hermon got the opportunity to take the lead in the 6th minute through Hichen but shoots directly to the keeper.
After the goal, Mt Hermon threatened for an equaliser, however, despite numerous attempts, they failed to find the back of the net as Rüzhükhrie took the lead until the end of the first half.
Even after the lemon break, Rüzhükhrie Govt HSS didn’t stop attacking despite the lead and dominated the game, and resulted in a goal that came through Rüzhükhrie substitute Menuoletuo in the 58th minute.
Mt Hermon on the other side gave their best but failed to breach the defensive line as Rüzhükhrie held on till the final whistle for a win.
During the match, Keneisa-o, Captain of Riizhiikhrie Govt HSS was awarded a yellow card for foul play in the 81st minute.
After the Pool Finals, the winner of Pool-A will compete with the loser of Pool-B and the loser of Pool-A will compete with the winner of Pool-B in the semifinal matches.
