RPF of NFR apprehends two touts; recovers tickets worth more than INR 30k
Dimapur, Aug. 4 (EMN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) while checking illegal sale of railway tickets upon information, arrested e-ticket touts from different locations during the last few days.
An update from NFR issued on Aug. 4 informed that during the raid, 21 numbers of railway e-tickets worth more than INR 30,000 were recovered while two persons were arrested and prosecuted.
In addition, RPF also recovered left behind luggage of passengers worth more than INR 2 lakh from the train during their routine checking.
On July 31, RPF post/Hojai recovered one missing bag of a passenger from a train at Hojai railway station. Upon checking, the bag cash worth INR 3500, mobile phone and other items were found which was then handed over to the rightful owner verification. In another incident on Aug. 1, RPF post/Tinsukia recovered one backpack of a passenger. Upon opening, the bag valuables including laptop worth more than INR 2 lakh were found which were then handed over to the rightful owner after proper verification.
It may be mentioned here that, during the period from January to July this year, RPF of NFR recovered 1902 railway tickets from touts worth more than INR 23.26 lakh and arrested 148 touts. During the same period as many as 225 left behind luggage of passengers worth more than INR 36.80 lakh in various trains/stations were recovered and handed over to owners after proper verification.
