Dimapur, Feb. 4 (EMN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) apprehended two persons for illegally selling railway e-tickets.
In an incident on Feb. 2, information was received regarding touting activities by “Sonu computer shop” located at Barlangfar near Barlangfar railway station, Karbi Anglong, Assam. CIB team and RPF staff of Lumding, with the help of local police and local witnesses conducted a raid and searched the shop, a press release from the Railways informed.
13 railway e-tickets worth INR 20,456, which was generated by using personal user IDs, were recovered.
Meanwhile, on Feb. 1, RPF team of Samsi with CIB team of Katihar conducted drive at PRS counter of Malahar railway station. During the drive, six railway tickets worth INR 6,631, which was generated by using personal user IDs, were recovered.
All the recovered railway tickets along with one mobile phone, two SIMs, one Aadhaar card, one ATM card and cash of INR 320 were seized and the person was taken into custody, it informed.
The apprehended persons were prosecuted under section 143 of the Railway Act.
It may be mentioned that RPF of NFR detected 121 cases of touting activities and apprehended 134 persons involved in illegal selling of railway e-tickets from Jan. 1, 2021 to Feb. 2, 2022.
