Rotary Club Kohima holds installation ceremony

Rotary Club Kohima installed a new president while nine new members were also inducted to the club during the 19th installation ceremony held on August 14 at Hotel Japfü in Kohima.

Ashok Kumar Agarwal, assistant governor of zone-IX, RI District 3240, formally installed Kezhokhoto Savi, the incoming president and nine other members to the club, on the occasion.

Speaking at the programme, Agarwal asked the club to observe Rotary Day of service by undertaking joint initiative of community based projects on a single day with clubs located within the district or other districts and enhance Rotary brandings.

While highlighting the need to organise necessary activities towards the wellbeing of people and protection of the environment, he reminded that the club leadership should attend important district events to fulfil the criteria in order to qualify, which is mandatory to avail grants.

As there is acute shortage of water during dry season in Kohima, Agarwal also requested that the club undertake a project funded under District Grant or RID 3240 Foundation to build water reservoirs in and around the district for the benefit of the community.

While assuring to extend his best support to Rotary Club, Kohima, he also reminded the officers to come up with a building of the club being situated in the state capital so that it could enhance Rotary image and attract more people to join the club.

Meanwhile, he lauded the outgoing president, Richard Dzuvichu, and his team for leading the club in the most crucial period.

“We all have lived in the best of times, in the seasons of light, in the spring of hope and during the past one and half year in the worst of times and darkness,” he said.

Kezhokhoto Savi, said he was honoured and humbled to run the “precious club” as the president and sought support of all the members in order to carry on the responsibility to serve the community.

“Together let us make it the best year of our lives, making it a year to grow and do more,” he said while reminding the club to live upto this year’s Rotary International’s theme “Serve to change lives”.

Despite the pandemic, he reminded the club that they have so much work to be done towards serving the community. As such, he urged the concerned members to be a “blessing in disguise” while taking the opportunity to serve ‘those in needs’ so as to achieve its goal. 

Senior Rotarian Omprakhash Gupta, while exhorting the newly inducted members, reminded them to attend necessary meetings while involving in various projects and always show their love to the club.

“You have come here with a heart for the community,” he said. He also informed that there are about 1.2 million Rotarians with about 35,000 Rotary clubs spread across the world.

Earlier, Kevino Savino, while delivering the secretary’s report, informed that Rotary Club Kohima extended humanitarian services to different sections of the society especially during the lockdown period following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr. Ketuo Vizo, the incoming club’s secretary, informed that the new office bearers would serve the club till the month of July next year. He apprised that there are about 21 members in the Rotary Club Kohima up till date.
