Dimapur, May 10 (EMN): A day after the Kohima Bench of the Guahati High Court disposed of the public interest litigation (PIL) filed in connection with the setting up of the much-delayed Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB), based on the state government’s compliance affidavit, the Rising People’s Party (RPP) said that it was a victory for student community.

A press release issued by RPP stated that Justice Songkhupchung Serto and Justice Nelson Sailo were satisfied with the state government undertaking and ruled that “since everything is in place, the board shall start functioning and conduct exams at the earliest as people of the state have been eagerly waiting for so long”.

Citing the government’s affidavit that the chairman of NSSB had taken the charge on February 16 this year and its office had been running since April 20 at the New Directorate Building of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, the party credited the “victory” to the NSF, PSAN, ENSF, ACAUT and others civil society organisations.

While requesting the board to start the recruitment process at the earliest, it said the state government should considered relaxation of age, alleging that many aspirants had crossed the age limit to apply for certain posts due to state government’s delay tactics.

The party also reminded that it had filed a PIL in August last year through Neiteo Koza, Advocate and Counsellor for the petitioners, on implementation of NSSB. It went on to say that it would do away with interview in NSSB exams to curb nepotism and favouritism in recruitment process if it comes to power in the state.
