Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio along with Minister for Rural Department, Metsubo Jamir and Advisor Tourism, Art & Culture, Khehovi Yepthomi launching the “Coffee Table Book” by Onen Nenty at the Residential Office of the Chief Minister on February 29.

Dimapur, Feb. 29 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio released on February 29 a coffee table book based on the experiences of a local biker Onen Nenty, who rode across the state’s districts recently, in association with Rattle & Hum Music Society in the residential office of the chief minister.

The book was written by Rita Krocha and narrated by Onen Nenty from her experiences during her solo bike tour throughout the state’s 11 districts, the department of Information and Public relations (IPR) stated on Saturday in its updates.

Speaking at the programme, Neiphiu Rio said it is up to the individual ‘what to do and what not to do in life but at the end of the day, one has to give their heart and soul on the decision he or she has taken.’

“Nagas are doing well in every field but we lack consistency,” he said. He expressed appreciation that the biker took a “bold decision” by choosing “safety for women” as the slogan “not only promoting herself but also promoting women safety wherever she goes,” the IPR quoted him as having said.

Rio wished her the best for her upcoming tours and urged her to promote Naga culture and traditions to the world outside through which tourism in Nagaland can benefit. He assured her that the government would support her in all possible way.

Speaking at the programme, the advisor to the chief minister, Abu Metha, also said her solo tour was a “step towards bringing women empowerment and that it exemplified the new energy of the Naga youth,” according to the IPR.

Onen Nenty has expressed a desire to “have an impact on the society through her passion of biking,” the IPR stated. She was stated to have encouraged women to ‘come out of their comfort zone and think beyond the kitchen.’

Onen Nenty is the first Naga woman to go on a solo bike tour across Nagaland. She has been selected for an all-India solo tour which will be flagged off from Delhi on March 8 2020 by minister of Textiles and Women and Child Development Smriti Irani, the IPR stated.
