Rio calls to make Nagaland a technical state

Neiphiu Rio along with his cabinet colleagues and others after unveiling the 50th anniversary plaque of Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu, Zunheboto, on October 29.

Dimapur, Oct. 31 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio called upon all stakeholders and general public to work together to make Nagaland a technical state.

The chief minister was addressing the celebration programme of 50th year of academic establishment of Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA), Zunheboto district, on October 29 at multipurpose hall, KPA, a DIPR report stated.

 “It all depends on everyone for the institute to progress and to become a center of excellence, as the world is becoming technical we have to be experts in every way for which networking is essential, we have to work together to make Nagaland a technical state,” Rio said.

He thanked the dedication of the faculties which has enabled many students to pass out from the institution and also lauded the land owners who donated the land and cooperated in establishing the institution.

He appealed to the public of the area saying they are the guardians of the institute and hoped they will continue to look after it as they have been doing so far.

Conveying happiness that the institute has been accredited, Rio also urged the people of the area and faculties to put in combined effort to attract more students from the state and outside as well.

As the institution strives to become a full-fledged engineering institution, he said the government will give full cooperation to pursue it.

The chief minister further appealed to the people to unite. “Without unity we cannot progress, unity is the need of the hour, Nagas should set aside all sorts of tribalism and work towards Naga unity and Nagaism,” Rio stated.

Earlier on arrival, the chief minister unveiled the 50th anniversary plaque.

The celebration programme was chaired by advisor, Technical Education and Election, Medo Yhokha, director of Technical Education, M Nakro, delivered the welcome address and principal KPA, Neikhrove Pfuno, proposed vote of thanks.

Picto Shohe, MLA, also spoke on the occasion.

The chief minister was accompanied by minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, TemjenImma Along, advisor of School Education, KT Sukhalu and officials from the Technical Education department.

Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, and representatives from Sumi Hoho and Sumi Totimi Hoho also attended the celebration, it stated.
