PM Modi to inaugurate Sikkim Airport on Sep. 24
Gangtok, Sep 21 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Pakyong Airport in Sikkim on Sep.24, officials said Friday. The Prime Minister will address a public meeting at St. Xavier’s School ground in Pakyong after inaugurating the state’s first airport, the officials said. The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at the Bagdogra airport at 4:10 pm on Sep. 23 after which he will board a helicopter from there to fly to Gangtok, the officials said. The Prime Minister will be received by the Governor of Sikkim Ganga Prasad and state Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling after his arrival in the state, the officials said. The programme at the airport will begin at around 10 am on Sep. 24, and then the PM will address the people at 10.30 am at the St Xavier’s School ground.
Six electrocuted in Assam
Guwahati, Sep. 21 (IANS): Six people were electrocuted in Assam’s Nagaon district on Friday, police said. The incident took place at a fishery in Khatowal area. “The victims were killed immediately as a high voltage electric wire was in the fishery which might have fallen in it the previous day. The electricity board officials however, did not disconnect the electricity, which led to the incident,” a police officer said. Following the incident, an angry mob vandalised the residence of an employee of the electricity board holding him responsible. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a probe into the incident and asked Power Minister Tapan Kumar Gogoi to visit the place.

Manipur CM to launch ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’
Imphal, Sep. 21 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh will launch the ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan ArogyaYojana’ a special health scheme for the poor on Sep. 23, in Imphal. The programme will be launched nationwide by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same day. Family Welfare Minister Langpoklakpam Jayentakumar Singh said that introduction of the new scheme will be a landmark in the health sector of the country. Around thirty numbers of health and wellness centres have been opened in Imphal West, Thoubal,Churachandpur and Chandel districts with the objective to promote public health and their well being.

Mizoram’s first international short film festival inaugurated
Aizawl, Sep 21 (PTI): The first-ever Mizoram International Short Film Festival (MISFF) was inaugurated Thursday with the screening Gulshan Grover’s internationally acclaimed short film ‘Forbidden’. The festival was inaugurated by Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla at the iconic Aijal Club in Aizawl, a Mizoram government press release said Friday. Internationally acclaimed Bollywood superstar Gulshan Grover, National Award Winning Director Umesh Shukla, renowned Actress cum script writer Puja Ballutia and the curator of MISFF Captain Rahul Bali and a number of well-known personalities from across India and the world attended the function, the release said.

NRL pays total dividend of INR 168.01 crore to Assam government
Guwahati, Sep. 21 (PTI): Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has paid a total dividend of Rs 168.01 crore to Assam government for the financial year 2017-18 on Friday. The final dividend cheque of INR 22.71 crore was handed over to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal by NRL Managing Director S K Barua in presence of Directors and senior officials of the company, a company release said here. This dividend is against its equity shareholding of 12.35 per cent in the company and is in addition to the interim dividend of Rs 145.31 crore handed over to the state government in 2017-18.
