Dimapur, April 11 (EMN): Governor RN Ravi and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Saturday extended Easter greetings to the people of Nagaland.

Easter is considered as the most important event for Christians as it the base of their faith, but this year’s Easter Sunday will be marred by the lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

“I extend my warm Easter greetings and best wishes to every one of you.  While Easter is celebrated around the world in memory of the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ, let us remember that it symbolises ‘hope’. Hope for a new beginning following a sacrifice made out of pure love.  Jesus demonstrates the pure love for all mankind with selfless sacrifice. His resurrection demonstrates victory of love over hate,” the message from Raj Bhavan read.

“This year we are celebrating Easter under the shadow of global pandemic Covid-19, which has compelled a country-wide lockdown. Let us celebrate this pious and joyous occasion at home with our family, let us do things little different this year by making it a one of a kind celebration with just family. There are plenty of ways to make it special.

“On this occasion let us keep our people, our countrymen and humanity in our prayers. We are in no doubt that the spirit of Easter shall prevail. The Covid-19 shall be defeated!  Blessed Easter Sunday to all!” it added.

Meanwhile, Neiphiu Rio took to social media to convey Easter greetings.

“The greatest act of love on Good Friday is followed by the greatest act of power on Easter Sunday which is His resurrection. May the miracle of Easter bring renewed hope, love and happiness. Have a blessed Easter Sunday. #ResurrectionSunday,” he tweeted.
