Dimapur, May 27 (EMN): The department of Power has cautioned all concerned electricity consumers, especially the bulk consumers (consumers with their own distribution transformers) regarding the continuous theft of energy meters, cut-out/Kit-Kat and cutting of the copper wires by miscreants.

An update from the executive engineer, Dimapur Electrical Division informed that consumers of all categories should secure their meters and other electrical equipments in their premises — by way of fencing it properly or customise an enclosure for the energy meters — since the department will not bear the cost of replacements for the loss of such equipments.

In light of the mentioned issue, consumers are requested to assist the department by immediately reporting the matter to the concerned sub-divisional officers, adding that wherever available the CCTV footage may be provided to enable the department and the police to catch the culprits.

Meanwhile, iron scrap dealers are warned not to entertain/purchase any unauthorised electrical equipments, items such as energy meters, copper wires, fuse wire and parts of cut-out or any suspicion items. They are requested to contact the concerned sub-divisional officers for any such suspected dealers.

Department employees under Dimapur Electrical Division are strictly warned not to involve in such activities, if any employees are found or caught involving in such illegal activities, severe action without further notice will be initiated, it said.
