Power Comm lifts 3rd Morning Premier League

Kohima, July 8 (EMN): PowerComm who emerged as the champion of the Morning Premier League 2017 lifted the trophy at the closing ceremony of the Morning Premier League 2017 held here at Unit Ground, 4th NAP Battalion, Thizama on Saturday.
PowerComm earlier defeated Amur Falcon 7-4 played at D Khel ground Kohima on Friday to clinch the title.

During the award ceremony, the player of the season was bagged by Dikwa of Morning football club while Mele of Amur Falcon FC received the golden boot and Ben Tungoe of Amur Falcon FC was awarded the golden glove. The fair play award was adjudged to PowerComm FC. The individual prizes of MPL were given away by Lipok, finance secretary MFA during the closing ceremony.
Altogether 10 teams participated in the 3rd edition of Morning Premier League (MPL) organised under the aegis of Morning Football Association which began from March till July 7.
During the exhibition match played between Morning Premier League XI and CASE Premier League XI (Dimapur), MPL XI registered an easy win over CASE Premier League XI by 5-1 during the encounter.
In the match, Kekhrie scored a hat-trick for Morning Premier League; he found the back of the net in the 30th, 50th and 90th minutes, while Mele Pucho and Lithung scored a goal each in 75th and 88th minutes respectively.
The lone and face saving goal came through Alem in 81st minute for Case Premier League.
About Morning Premier League (Kohima)
The league was to create health consciousness, friendship, camaraderie and competitive mentality and to promote sportsmanship in a safe, healthy and fun loving environment. Initially it started with just two teams in 2015 but due to the growing interest and demand for health conscious people, the MFA felt the need to raise to ten teams.
The teams for Season 3 include Morning FC, Amur Falcon FC, Medical XI, Merhulietsa FC, Merhulietsa Sunrisers, PowerCom, Morung United FC, Mustang FC, Nepali Baptist Church Silver White Kohima and All Blacks. The league is for non-professionals and retired players’ above the age of 28 years.
About CASE Premier League (Dimapur)
The league is solely aimed to promoting fitness and friendship through football where non-professionals above 30 years of age feature in CASE Premier League.
