Power Comm are champions of Morning Premier League

Kohima, July 7 (EMN): Power Comm clinched the Morning Premier League 2017 title on Friday morning after defeating 3rd placed Amur Falcon 7- 4 in a goal fest encounter at D Khel ground Kohima.
Even though Power Comm and Medical XI have 41 points each from 18 games, Comm with superior goal difference (+36) wrapped up the title in style. Playing the last premier league match, Repa scored an own goal in the 17th minute for Power Comm to take the lead and Gum added the second goal in the 36th minute, while Mele pulled back a goal in the 42nd minute to make it 2-1 in the first half.
The second half saw eight goals coming from both the team as Amur Falcon made a comeback in the second half with Mele scoring his second goal, along with Benlo and Chipang goals but it was not enough for Amur Falcon to beat the league leaders. Benjamin’s brace, Gum, Hethanglo and Sahovi goals for Power Comm in the second half made it 7-4 at the end of the match.
Bottom place Silver White and second bottom Mustang FC are now out of the Morning Champions Cup that will be held in the month of September.
The closing ceremony of the MPL 2017 will be held at Unit Ground, 4th NAP Battalion, Thizama on Saturday hosted by Temjenmoa. Besides champion’s trophy, the closing ceremony will include individual prizes for the golden boot, golden glove, player of the season including the most disciplined team. An exhibition match will also be played between Morning Premier League XI and CASE Premier League XI (Dimapur).
