Dimapur, Sep. 21 (EMN): With an aim to disseminate awareness on health and nutrition, ICDS Jalukie under the department of Social Welfare conducted a block-level Poshan Panchayat at Women Welfare Conference Hall, Jalukie, on September 21.
Speaking on the occasion, the EAC of Jalukie, Wangan Phom, highlighted the role of Panchayat and various Poshan schemes, which were launched by the Central government. He encouraged the local leaders to disseminate awareness on health and nutrition at the block level.
Wangan Phom also emphasised on the importance of covid-19 vaccine in order to attain and maintain good nutritional status to fight against the virus.
Meanwhile, CDPO Jalukie, Namhuheing, spoke on Jan Andolan (People’s Movement) and encouraged the council members and village leaders to participate and raise awareness on health and nutrition. He also emphasised on the role of Panchayat to play an active role for successful implementation of the activities.
Kalivi Zhimomi, supervisor, spoke on the management of SAM, MAM (children) and the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feedings. She said early identification of SAM is important for initiating treatment and minimising the risk of complications.
The programme was chaired by district project assistant, Mezilung Nchang, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Hauneu Zeliang, president of All Wards Chairmen of Jalukie Town.
