Dimapur, March 30 (EMN): Keeping in mind that enlightened students become good citizens and make a better society, Tuensang Police has started the “Police ki Pathshala” initiative to promote understanding of law and to encourage participation of the student community in law enforcement.

The initiative was aimed at making the students aware of their rights and duties as citizens, an update from the Tuensang superintendent of police stated on Tuensang.

It stated that the first chapter of “Police ki Pathshala” programme in the district started on March 30 with the SP of Tuensang, Amit Nigam, by visiting Loyem Memorial College, Tuensang. During his interaction with students, he shared his experiences in policing besides sharing the rights as well as duties of a citizen towards society. He also emphasised on the need for bridging the gap between police and citizens.

While interacting with the students, Nigam also made them aware of cyber laws, domestic violence, eve teasing, etc. and called upon them to promptly inform police whenever such crimes take place.

It stated that “Police ki Pathshala” would be organised regularly to spread the awareness amongst the students about existing laws and to empower them.

SDPO Tuensang and the principal Loyem Memorial College also shared their views about police and public relations. It stated that around 100 students attended the programme.
