PMAY-U to organise short film contests

Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) has announced to organise a short film contest for all Indians above 18 years on ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ and ‘Awas Par Samvaad.’

‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ is a celebration to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence, while ‘Awas Par Samvaad’ is a nation-wide dialogue to create awareness and promote discussion on ‘housing for all’ among multiple stakeholders.

Applications are invited from PMAY-U beneficiaries, students, youth, members of the civil society, institutions and individuals or groups on the broad theme of the six years journey of PMAY-U mission and how it has impacted lives of people, thereby bringing transformation, dignity and enabling empowerment, a PIB report stated.

The competition would be opened to all Indian nationals above the age of 18 years and the final date for submission has been set on September 1. The results would be declared on September 30. It informed that 25 winners would be rewarded in three categories with cash prizes of INR 25000, INR 20000 and INR 12500 along with certificate, the report added.

Themes for the short film contest included life changing experiences of beneficiaries after owning a house, PMAY-U ensuring dignity of women, livelihood opportunities for beneficiaries, greater sense of safety and security after having a house and, improved health, education opportunities after children owing to better living conditions.

‘Awas Par Samvaad’ aims at creating awareness on ‘Housing for all’ among multiple stakeholders belonging to varied streams of learning and practices including engineering, urban community development, planning, finance, etc.

It would be done through 75 nation-wide workshops and seminars to be conducted between July 1 to September 30 by educational institutions and primary lending institutions in association with states and UTs. The workshops could be held offline through a classroom model by adhering to all Covid-19 best practices or via online medium. MoHUA would issue certificates of participation to all participants, the report added.

For conducting workshops, educational institutions and PLls could register on the PMAY (U) website https://pmay-urban.gov.in or PMAY-U mobile app.
