Phesama village with 10 gold, one silver and three bronze medals today emerged as the overall champions of the 53rd Southern Angami Sports Association Meet 2015.
In women athletic events Abeino Neihu of Kigwema emerged as the champion with three gold medal while in men’s category three individuals – Khriesito Kuotsu & Vingukhoto Sile-o (both of Phesama) and Vibito Thol of Kidima village were adjudged as the champions.In the games event for men’s football Jakhama emerged as champion beating Viswema while in men’s volleyball Phesama bagged the champion’s title with Kezo Town emerging as runners-up and in women’s volleyball Kezo Town bagged the champion’s place while Jakhama emerging as runners-up.
The individual awardees of volleyball are as follows:
Men’s: Best Setter – Neisalie Mejura and Best Spiker – Vikehiezo Mejure (both of Phesama)
Women’s: Best Setter – Kezevilie Yongo and Best Spiker – Nokovino Zecho (both of Kezo Town).
In football, Jakhama emerged as champion beating Viswema by 2-1. Kelesal Pucho of Viswema bagged the best player of the tournament, with Kechose tepa of Jakhama and Kevisekho Thokwe of Kidima being adjudged as best gold and highest scorer of the tournament.
Viswema village received the best disciplined award of the tournament.
Gracing the valedictory function as the patron on behalf of local MLA Kropol Vitsu, his personal ecretary Voto Neikha gave away the awards to the winners while also exhorting the players to work hard to earn name and fame not only at the regional level but also upcoming Angami Sports Association (ASA) meet scheduled for early February and greater heights.
