Pfutsero Government College observes cultural day

Dimapur, Aug. 24 (EMN): Cultural items in the form of traditional games and sports, folk songs and folklores came to live at Pfutsero Government College in Phek district on the occasion of its 37th cultural day on August 24.
The cultural day was organised jointly by Pfutsero Government College Students’ Union (PGCSU) and the cultural committee headed by Neichupe Kapfo as the convenor on the theme “Retaining Originality,” stated Neiko Ritse, convenor of college media committee in an update.

Speaking on the occasion, the college principal Dr. Moanochet Longchar, asked the students to have positive cultural outlook and continue to preserve and enriched the culture that were passed on to them by their ancestors. He also encouraged the students to actively take part in cultural activities and pass on the rich culture to the future generation.

The cultural day programme included competition in folk/ indigenous songs for duet, quartet and group, enactment of folklore (drama), stick walk, wrestling and tug-of-war. The students were divide into four houses namely Cardiff City, Crystal Palace, Everton and Southamton and competed in various categories.

The day concluded with prize distribution in which the vote of thanks was delivered by Wekhrotso Krome, PGCSU social and cultural secretary.
