Pfutsero asks for technicians and ambulance

: Pfutsero sub-division has requested the higher authority to deploy at least two technicians for Covid-19 sample collection and one ambulance for transportation of Covid-19 patients, as highlighted by the Health department.

It said that there is lot of public pressure for Covid-19 testing as the positive patients ‘have been exposed to the community’.

Seven frontline workers and three family members of a frontline worker tested positive for Covid-19 in Pfutsero town on July 28, taking the tally in the region to 11. The authorities had sealed two villages and three colonies following the detection of new cases.

A notice from the additional deputy commissioner of Pfutsero, Phuleshe K Yepthomi, informed that block-level task force for Covid-19 Pfutsero sub-division along with core committee for Covid-19 of Pfutsero public leaders discussed various issues at an emergency meeting held on July 29.

The Health department, in its report presented at the meeting, informed that primary contact tracing and Covid-19 testing was underway. The house also requested the higher authority to carry out tests at Phek headquarters apart from Pfutsero.

The house discussed on setting up of Covid care centre at Pfutsero sub-division and concluded that they focus on containment of Covid-19 and contact tracing first.

Total lockdown for 7 days

In an order issued on July 29, Deputy Commissioner of Phek Sachin Jaiswal announced that total lockdown would be imposed in Pfutsero town with immediate effect from July 29 till August 2.

It stated that lockdown measures were imposed to enhance active surveillance and ensure comprehensive contact tracing, detection of suspected cases and implementation of isolation measures so that the chain of transmission can be slowed down and the spread of Covid-19 infection contained.

Restrictions during the lockdown:

  • All categories of shops are to remain closed except pharmacies.
  • All public and vehicular movement is prohibited except for medical emergencies, police, security forces, medical and essential service providers like treasury, bank including ATMs, PHED, food and civil supply, social welfare, town council, telecom services, media and LPG supply.
  • Inter-district and inter-state movement is restricted. However, movement of medical emergency cases and essential goods and services with proper safety measures in place will be allowed to pass without stoppage within the town area.
  • All kind of construction activities are prohibited during the lockdown period.

Failure to comply with this order shall invite strict penal actions as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC and other provisions wherever applicable, it stated.
