Peren Congress says ZPO (N) is TR Zeliang’s mouthpiece
Dimapur, March 27 (EMN): The Peren unit of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has censured the ZPO (N) decision to defend the “deposed chief minister”, TR Zeliang.
A press statement from the party unit on Wednesday stated that the “ZPO (N) defending the illegal actions of deposed chief minister TR Zeliang” was unfortunate and uncalled for. “Instead of functioning like a civil society whose primary duty is to be the watchdog, organizations like ZPO (N) going by their statement have exposed themselves as mouthpieces of TR Zeliang.
“The lapses in allocation of CMRDF have been put in the public domain. Aside from the controversial signature on the CMRDF document and beneficiaries who are kith and kin of the ruling establishment, it also clearly flouted the rules where proposals exceeding Rs 50 lakh were not to be considered. On the contrary, two projects both from Peren districts amounting to Rs 300 lakh and Rs 140 lakh have been listed in direct contravention of the laid down rules,” it pointed out.
The district party unit reminded the ZPO (N), that the entire contracts in Peren districts were given to the son of TR Zeliang (Hi-Tech Construction, repair of Hospital approach road at Jalukie town – Rs 300 lakh), his nephew Kuheirang Zeliang (improvement of road from Old Chalkot jn to New Peren- Rs 50 lakh) and his wife’s nephew Samuel (Innovative Construction-approach road to Saijang Rubber Farm 3 km- Rs 140 lakh).
“Incidentally, the works amounting to Rs 140 lakh for improvement of approach road to Saijang Rubber farm which is about 2 km from 9th IRB camp happens to be the private rubber farm of TR Zeliang. Moreover, ZPO (N) have brought out that works on Hospital approach road at Jalukie town is being executed in advance even before the release of funds.
“By executing works even before issuing of work orders by the concerned department, other competent firms/individuals have been denied the chance to participate through open tender and there can be no better example of nepotism, favouritism and corruption than this. ZPO (N) attempting to defend their master has further exposed the blatant abuse of power by TR Zeliang before the people of Nagaland.”
It ‘advised’ the ZPO (N) to stop behaving like political the mouthpiece of TR Zeliang “since his own people do not approve of his corrupt style of functioning which is amply clear from the action of the other NPF legislator from Peren district who chose to disassociate from him.”
