Kohima, April 27 (EMN): A fiction, ‘Love Struck,’ written by 28-year old Ita Alley, was released on April 27 in Kohima. The book is published by PenThrill Publication House.
The book was released by Professor Jano Sekhose of Nagaland University, on April 27 at the LCS building in Kohima.
The publication is an “imaginative release” as it hopes to enable writers to recreate imagination, according to Prof.

Sekhose. It is also the “birth of the reader” as readers have the right to present own interpretations of the book. Moreover, it enhances many interpretations, she explained.

The settings for Love Struck are “very contemporary.” As one explores the book, there are instances of modern elements in the story, which is noticeable. One will also find that love emerges out of suffering and difficulties in the characters’ lives.

Love Struck’s author Ita Alley said she started writing short stories since higher secondary school. She went on to participate in short story competitions online too.

Alley’s inspiration to write was drawn from a friend who encouraged her to write a book of her own.
One of her short stories, ‘The Light of the Fireflies’ appeared in the book ‘Sharing Stories’ at the Baptist College Kohima Literature Fest in 2018.

Publisher Vishü Rita Krocha expressed happiness to come across young and promising writers who have invested their time, energy and creativity in writing.

“It is really important that we tell and write our own stories because in one way or the other, we have lived in it, and we know best the story of our lives,” Krocha said.

Alley’s Love Struck tries to capture today’s society where more and more young people are venturing into different kinds of enterprise, subtly touching upon the craze for government jobs, she said. Further, it also speaks about estranged relationships of the people.

‘it was every writer’s dream to have a book published, Ita Alley had accomplished that,’ she said. She congratulated the writer and hoped that she would come up with more books in the future.

An assistant professor at Don Bosco College in Kohima, Dr. Imtinaro Longkumer gave the introduction to the author. She said Alley was born in Nepal and had come to Nagaland a few years ago.

The Dimapur-based author has completed Master’s in Applied Geography from the University of Madras, Chennai. The professor described her as an ‘avid reader’ of books of all genres.

A commentary about the book was given by Adenuo Shirat Luikham, also an assistant professor at Don Bosco College. She said Love Struck had achieved ‘transporting readers into the characters’ world.’

“Love Struck is a novel that will resonate with the Nagas due to its relatability (sic) not only that, it will also be counted as a valuable addition to the growing body of literature in English by Naga writers,” Luikham said.

Also the professor found the elements of humour in the novel the ‘best part.’ There are many instances where the reader is guaranteed to laugh, she said. Relationships are the central focus of the story, she added.

The book is available at the Bible House, Crossword, and Chapru in Kohima. One can buy a copy via online website of Ilandlo, and Roots and Leisure too.
