Dimapur, Aug. 30 (EMN): Peace Channel organised a three-day capacity building training programme for district animators spread across various districts of Nagaland and working towards achieving Nagaland as a peaceful state by 2030 on ‘Inner peace, self-management, heart of listening and skill development’ on August 26, 27 and 29.

The aims of the training was to enhance the capacities of the peace promoters of different districts to manage and engage in the ongoing process of peace building in Nagaland, an update from Peace Channel stated on Sunday.

It stated that Fr. Dr. CP Anto, director of Peace Channel, spoke on “Strengthening inner strength in peace building” and “Self-management.” Anto stated that in learning to accept oneself, one has to defeat fear in order to receive inner strength. He added that the fundamental of inner strength starts from acceptance, love, happiness and contentment.

Anto also emphasised on self-management as a goal setting saying, “If we are able to control our behaviour, thoughts, as well as manage stress, we are fit to accomplish the other vows of life.” Stressing on the need to cultivate the habit of appreciating oneself, he wanted every individual to know oneself and keep a check on the short/long term goals, individual/organisational goals.

“The need of having a good inter/intra-personal relationship as well as good networking is a must for every animator to reach the next level of achieving the aims and objectives of the mission,” Anto added.
During the training, Sr. Theresa also gave an insight on “Spirituality of inner-peace” on how every nation practices peace and cited examples of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa how they were able to drew resources from within and bring peace to the troubled world.

She motivated everyone on becoming aware of their lives and how one could contribute in creating peaceful space within oneself, group and society as people.

Vitono Haralu, Peace Channel trainer and consultant who also moderated the three-day capacity training, spoke on “Ethics and values,” “Heart of listening,” “Doors of your thoughts,” “Life graph” with the purpose to have a check and balance in one’s personal and professional life. She also emphasised that the heart of listening begins “when we start sharing honestly,” and added that “trust building begins when we become more self-aware about ourselves.”

A movie ‘I can only imagine” was screened to relate life as well as witness the power of prayer, forgiveness, love and loyalty in human relationships and how it plays a vital role in building healthy and purposeful life of an individual.

The input session on the on-going projects of Peace Channel was shared by the projects manager Garrol Lotha.

A total of 13 animators of Peace Channel attended the capacity training programme. A presentation on the principles of the organisation such as dialogue, spirituality, acceptance, equality, respect, empathy, non-violence were shared by the animators.

In conclusion, gratitude notes were exchanged among the animators to acknowledge the goodness, build strong relationship and relish good experiences during the three-day programme.
