PDA-II testament to people’s faith and confidence, says Mhathung Yanthan
Kohima: Advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, on Thursday, stated that the return of the NDPP-BJP alliance government with a resounding mandate was a “testimony” of the faith and confidence on the PDA government by the people of Nagaland for the works done in the last five years, despite COVID challenges.
He stated this while participating in the debate on motion of thanks to the maiden address of the Nagaland Governor in the 14th NLA.
‘Therefore, in order to continue and maintain people’s trust, this Government is commencing the new term in the service of the people with clear vision and renewed vigour to bring about positive change, progressive development and all round inclusive economic growth, not forgetting to work towards bringing solution to the long standing Naga political issue,’ he said.
Stating that the socio-economic progress of the state continues to be reliant on agriculture and allied activities, Yanthan claimed that the PDA government is committed to give utmost importance towards improvement of the agriculture sector for enhancing productivity and production.
‘To this end, the various initiatives and progress made by Agri and allied departments during the current year and their plan of action for the coming year have been prominently highlighted in the address, which are noteworthy,’ he said.
‘The policies, programmes and achievements of other sectors of the government’s departments, as mentioned in subsequent paras also speaks volume about the pace of development and progress the state is witnessing, which is possible because of the strong and decisive leadership of the CM and the stable Government he is heading,’ he added.
Meanwhile, the advisor said that education is not only important for the growth of a vibrant society but it boosts economic growth and increases the GDP of a nation.
Therefore, according to him, the various innovative projects being implemented by School Education for students across the state is noteworthy and appreciated by all.
He affirmed that the World Bank-funded project, The Nagaland Education Project — The Lighthouse (NECTAR), performance incentive grants made available to all the 1953 government schools in Nagaland were novel initiatives, which will give the much-needed facelift to school infrastructure and also provide a fillip to the quality of education in Nagaland. Yanthan also stated that the establishment of the first ever medical college in Nagaland at Kohima, which is to start functioning from the academic year 2023-24, as mentioned in the governor’s address, is a welcome initiative of the government, which is going to fulfill the wishes and aspiration of the people of the state after a long time.
