Dimapur, Oct. 1 (EMN): On the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Governor RN Ravi has urged the citizens of Nagaland to pay the former a ‘worthy homage’ by keeping their surrounding clean.

“Cleanliness – physical and spiritual, was at the core of Mahatma’s way of life and his philosophy.  To him cleanliness was next to godliness.  His life was an epitome of simplicity, honesty and cleanliness,” read a statement from Ravi on Tuesday.

For Gandhi, he reminded, cleanliness was more than physical and it included honesty and integrity of conduct – individual and collectives.  “I urge upon our people – be they in the government or society to pledge our-self to a ceaseless commitment to honesty and integrity in our individual and institutional lives.  This will mark the beginning of achieving our goal of a peaceful and prosperous Nagaland.”
