DIMAPUR — The deputy chief minister, Y Patton, has congratulated the principal and staff of St. Xavier College, Jalukie, for securing NAAC Grade ‘A’ with CGPA 3.12, which is said to be the first ever in the state of Nagaland and stated that it is a pride for the people of Peren district and Nagaland.

“This is a great achievement for the college and for the state of Nagaland,” Patton stated in his address during the NAAC Grade ‘A’ celebration and academic closing day programme held at the college premises on May 12. The college celebrates the remarkable achievement, Patton reminded of the great sacrifices and valuable services rendered by the pioneers, stated an update issued by the media cell of the deputy CMO.

Patton also congratulated the college’s principal, Dr. Fr. Francis Cheerangal, on being awarded the Governor’s commendation certificate on January 26 this year for his outstanding contribution and services to the community.

He mentioned that the college has brought many accolades including winning the national NSS award from the President of India, national youth parliament and best Northeast NCC etc, which spoke volumes for itself. He has attributed to dedication and devotion to responsibilities and working in cohesive environment. He urged them to keep up the good spirits for furtherance of the good mission.

Patton also encouraged the student community to make best use of the infrastructural opportunities and devote more of their valuable time in studies and shun from misusing smart phones but rather use it responsibly for benefit of gathering information and knowledge. He further called upon the people of the area to give full cooperation to the college authorities to enable them function without hindrances in the service of the people.

After the formal programme, Maj. General, Vikas Lakhera, IGAR (North) inaugurated the renovated basketball court.
