Passenger train collides with vehicle at unauthorised railway crossing in Nagaland

DIMAPUR— A passenger train collided with a vehicle at an unauthorised railway crossing near Thahekhu Block 8 rail tracks in Dimapur on Sunday.

According to Vinod Kumar, the inspector of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Dimapur, the Lalgarh-Dibrugarh Avadh Assam Express (train number 15910) collided with a Volkswagen Polo Car which was stuck in the railway track while attempting to pass an unauthorised crossing.

Fortunately, the driver managed to escape unharmed before the train hit the stationary vehicle around 11.10 am on July 16.

However, no casualty was reported in the incident.

Kumar informed that a case has been registered at the RPF Dimapur and the vehicle taken into custody for further investigation but no arrest made in connection with the case till the time of filing this story.

He said the damage to the train will be ascertained only after further inquiry.
