The 1st Late Vikuolazo Kuotsu Memorial Open Chess Tournament 2014 is scheduled to be held from December 16 to 19 at Angami Public Organisation (APO) Hall Phoolbari, Kohima. The tournament is organised by Visanyüzo Kuotsu, under the aegis of Nagaland Chess Association. All the players should be from Nagaland and is mandatory for non-Naga players who reside in Nagaland to produce residential certificate from their Colony/Area Chairman or G.B. respectively, informed the convenor in a press release.The tournament will be conducted on Swiss League system of ten (10) rounds under FIDE rules and regulation. Those players who are willing to participate in the tournament may collect entry forms from:
1. Essential Shop (Bus Stand) Opp. Oking Hospital, Phoolbari Kohima (08132869427), 2. Rose wood opp. Central Bank Razhü Point Kohima (09774050803) and 3. The Touch hotel, adjacent to Jack & Jill, Hong Kong Market, Dimapur (08415003916).
The age limit for junior category is below 16years and all the juniors must produce birth certificate as proof (Student) with School ID Card/Principal recommendation. The entry fee for senior players is Rs.1000 and Rs.500 for juniors and the last date of entry is December 15 at 12:00 noon.
The total cash prize is Rs.1, 00, 000 (Rupees One Lakh) along with trophies and certificates. The winner of the main event will receive Rs.20, 000 while the second and third will receive Rs.15, 000 and Rs.10, 000 respectively. Players from 4th to 10th will also be awarded consolation prize of Rs.3500 each and the players from 11th to 15th will receive Rs.2000 each. While in junior category, the winner of the tournament will receive Rs.5000, Rs.3000 for 2nd and 2000 for 3rd. Players from 4th to 7th position will also be awarded Rs.1500 each.
The oldest and the youngest players of the tournament will receive Rs.1500 each and the best women player will also be awarded Rs.1500.
