Officials of Dimapur, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong hold border co-ordination meeting

Dimapur, July 30 (EMN): The officials from Dimapur, Golaghat and Karbi Anglong districts on Friday resolved to settle any border issues through dialogues and by keeping all communication channels open.

This was arrived at during the border co-ordination meeting held at CCI Guest House Bokajan and attended by the deputy commissioner and Commissioner of Police, Dimapur; the deputy commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Golaghat and Karbi Anglong DIG Range; and Commandant CRPF (neutral force).

It came amid reports of tensions along the Nagaland and Assam border.

“The house deliberated on the inter-state border situation and agreed that due to regular border co-ordination meetings between the district officials no major border incidents have taken place in the recent past,” read an update from Dimapur DC Rajesh Soundararajan.

The DIG Range Assam told the house that the overall situation at border is normal and no major incidents have taken place so far due to regular border co-ordination meetings between the district officials.

It said the officials from Karbi Anglong and Golaghat also thanked their counterparts from Dimapur for their support in conducting the recent Assam Assembly elections peacefully.

‘The meeting ended with all the officials present at the meeting agreeing to have regular border co-ordination meetings,’ continued the update.
