DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 21: Observing the growing number of Dengue cases in the district, officials from the Malarial Department headed by Chief Deputy Director, Dr. N Kire along with other officials of Urban Sector Borne Disease Scheme (USBDS) visited some Dengue detected areas in order to spread awareness among the localities.
Dengue fever caused by dengue virus is said to be a mosquito-borne tropical disease that may even cause death.
To fight against the disease positively and to impart various safety measures among localities, an eight member team from both Kohima and Dimapur visited Signal Rio Colony and Sematila Colony based on reports of positive cases being detected recently.
During a brief educational visit at Signal Colony, officials disseminated information and advised the colony people on various guidelines to overcome the ailment. The programme, with the participation of around 100 members, was held in the presence of Colony GB, Pukuolie Angami.
The officers requested the gathered members to clear clogged drains and advised that no garbage (liquid or solid) should be kept in-stock as it provides breeding ground for mosquitoes causing the disease.
Inspector USBDS, Achem Ao, during a telephonic conversation, mentioned that the department had recently visited some localities and provided information on the Dengue and other vector born diseases.
