Nagaland state monitoring team of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) led by Dr. Temsula, state programme officer (SPO), and Dr. Neisakuo, deputy Director, visited Wokha district on August 23. They toured Chukitong block and visited several health units to monitor, supervise and review programme implementations in the block.

Office of the chief medical officer, Wokha informed this through a press release on Friday.

After the tour, the team attended the district review meeting of NVBDCP at CMO Conference Hall, Wokha. All the NVBDCP staff in the district along with Deputy CMO Dr. Zuben Kikon attended the meet and reviewed the malarial activities of NVBDCP under Wokha district.

During the meeting, the SPO emphasised on proper documentation and record maintenance for certification of free malaria as the time given by the programme to eliminate the disease is 2022; and that the district cannot afford to be complacent because of the decrease of the cases in the last few years, but be vigilant to tackle the indigenous cases arising out and make the district free of transmission. She also stressed on the awareness of vector borne diseases like dengue, JE and its prevention to percolate down to all parts of the district.
