Students of Nagaland University hold a candlelight vigil to mourn the death of police personnel who were killed in the Pulwama terror attack.

Dimapur, Feb. 17 (EMN):
Students of Nagaland University at Lumami, in Zunheboto, conducted a candlelight prayer vigil on February 17 at the university’s Lumami campus “to condemn the horrific Pulwama terror attack on the CRPF personnel which resulted in loss of many lives.”

The Nagaland University Students’ Union at Lumami issued a note on Sunday informing about the programme.

During the event, the president of the organisation, K Buche Khiamniungan stated hope that the government “would leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators to justice and give a befitting reply to those behind the attack.”

The student leader appealed to political parties to keep aside their political differences and unite at this hour of crisis, the press release stated.

‘The union and all the students of Nagaland University in general, extend their prayers and condolences to the bereaved families of the dead and injured,’ the organisers stated.

In other matters, the students’ union congratulated the various state governments of the Northeast region, civil bodies and organizations and the people of the region for their effort in “withstanding the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.”

The press release read: “The lapsing (sic) of the bill is a triumphant occasion for the people of the region. The union further hopes that the government of India will not adopt measures which will jeopardize the interests of the region.”

The organisation assured that ‘it will always oppose anything which would jeopardize or bring crisis in the region even in the days to come.’
