Dimapur, Nov. 29 (EMN): Following several years of confrontations with the concerned authority against illegal collection of tax at check gates, Nagaland Timber Traders Union (NTTU) got a respite with an order on suspension of operation at forest check gates at Pfutsero, Peducha and Chümoukedima.

In an order, Conservator of Forests (Pub. and Training), Kohima, Temjenyabang, had directed the suspension of operation of forest check gates at Pfutsero, Peducha and Chümoukedima with immediate effect.

At an emergency meeting of NTTU held in Dimapur on Friday, NTTU president Kevise Sogotsu appreciated the move of the state government stating that the issue raised by the union was for the welfare of the people.

Sogotsu also informed that NTTU has decided to withdraw the writ petition filed at Gauhati High Court, Kohima bench.
