Dimapur, Nov. 9 (EMN): The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) organised three day Training of Trainers (ToT) on promotion of federations for NSRLM trainees from Nov. 6 to 9.
The training programme is for promotion of higher level federations in all blocks under the 9 NRLM districts as sustainable community institutions. Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Village Level Organizations (VLOs) would eventually come under these cluster or block level federations for more effective functioning as a unit comprising of member units. Block Level Federations (BLFs) have already been formed in some of the districts, informed NSRLM.
In his keynote address, COO (Programs), M Rollan Lotha spoke on the importance of federating SHGs and VLOs into cluster/block level federations who are functionally efficient, self-managed, self-governed and a sustainable institutions of the rural poor, capable of accessing and delivering financial and livelihood services to the poor within their community.
He informed that the ToT is to create knowledge based on the SRLM and to disseminate the same to the community institutions through trained human resource in the state. Accordingly, he said the promotion of higher level federation in Nagaland will be phased over a period of 2 years towards intensive trainings and learning experiences for both the State Mission and the community.
He further said the success of developing sustainable institutions in each designated district lies in the commitment and diligence of the mission staff where indigenous representation of human resource (staff) is the mandate of NSRLM.
