Dimapur, Feb. 5 (EMN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has appealed to all the educational institutions in Naga-inhabited areas not to deny admissions to Myanmar Naga students, who had fled their homes in view of the law and order situation, and wish to pursue their academic studies.

The federation stated that it had made the appeal in view of the influx of Myanmar Nagas into various Naga-inhabited areas and in the interest of the student community whose career has been adversely affected by the conflict in Myanmar.

‘This arrangement should be put in place until such time that the situation in Myanmar becomes conducive for the students to return to their respective places. This is in the interest of the student community and the Naga people at large,’ read the press release.

The NSF’s appeal came amid reports of the military launching fresh attacks on the civilians in some locations, forcing the people to flee to neighbouring areas across the border, including Mizoram state.

Myanmar has been witnessing protests, armed resistance, violence and unrest ever since the military seized control of the democratically elected government on February 1, 2021, after Aung San Suu Kyi’s the National League for Democracy (NLD) party won the general election by a landslide.
