Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has expressed happiness over the extension of Inner Line Permit (ILP) to the entire district of Dimapur and lauded the state government for the move.

The governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi extended Inner Line to cover the entire district of Dimapur with “immediate effect” on Tuesday.

“Extension of ILP regime to cover the entire state of Nagaland has been the long standing demand of the NSF in our sincere bid to protect the rich culture, traditions, customs and practices of the indigenous people from the influx of illegal immigrants in the state,” read a statement from the federation.

The student body lauded the government of Nagaland led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy CM Y Patton for the policy decision, which it said, “will go a long way in protecting the rights of the indigenous people of the state and holds posterity in good stead.”

“The NSF acknowledges the visionary wisdom and contributions of our seniors who initiated this journey and carried the torch forward, and to all who walked along with us throughout this journey until we see the light of this historic day,” added the statement.

Assuring its “fullest support and co-operation”, the NSF has appealed to the state government to set up a robust system to ensure that the ILP law is implemented in letter and in spirit.
