NSF extends solidarity with Pochury community

Dimapur, Sep. 5 (EMN): Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has extended solidarity with the Pochury community on the occasion of 60th anniversary of all those who have suffered and lost their lives in the hands of the Indian armed forces at Matikhrü village under Pochury region.

It mentioned that on September 6, 1960, the Indian armed forces under the command of Lieutenant General Thorat, 1st GOC, Eastern Command, a combined force of the 16th Sikh and Gorkha regiments came and surrounded Matikhrü village under at Pochury region and forcibly arrested the whole villagers. On that fateful day, nine persons were mercilessly tortured and killed, an update from the NSF general secretary Liremo R Kikon and the vice president Dievi Yano stated.

“On this day, the federation joins the rest of the Naga people in offering our homage to the departed souls whose martyrdom has once again renewed our aspirations and our hopes of a brighter tomorrow with a renewed sense of direction and purpose,” the statement read.

The federation stated that it would remained indebted to the families of those who have sacrificed their lives for the Naga cause and added that their legacy would continue to inspire the upcoming generation.
