DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) has taken strong exception to the action of the eight Naga legislators who, along with 32 legislators from Manipur, recently submitted a representation to the Prime Minister of India.
“The 8 Naga MLAs supposedly representing the Nagas of Manipur have willfully been blinded and guided by their self-serving individualistic gains; shaming and tainting the very people that elected them to serve and represent,” the NSCN (Niki) stated in a press release.
Condemning the Naga MLAs for appending their signatures in the representation, the group stated that the United Naga Council (UNC) has “rightfully rejected and disowned the representation.”
It went on to state that when all Nagas, irrespective of artificially imposed borders, are yearning and working towards the attainment of a political solution with a unified Naga homeland, the “reprehensible representation serves as a direct challenge to the very idea of Naga nation.”
“Let it be known crystal clear to all that NSCN/GPRN will not stand silent but will take up any necessary measures to protect and defend the political aspirations of the Naga People, whenever challenged,” the group stated.
Among others, the August 9 representation to the prime minister sought for complete disarmament by confiscating weapons belonging to insurgent groups and illegal foreign forces and those stolen from the state machinery, withdrawal of Suspension of Operation Agreement with groups that have violated the ground rules and implementation of the National Register of Citizens.
